Cookie Policy

Last updated: 10 July 2026

This page explains how Aicher uses cookies and similar technologies on our website. Aicher is a small UK technical website consultancy. If you have any questions, email hello@aicher.co.uk.

1. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device when you visit. They help websites work correctly, remember your preferences, and understand how the site is being used. Similar technologies, such as localStorage, work in a similar way by storing a small amount of information in your browser.

2. How Aicher uses cookies and similar technologies

We use a small number of essential technologies to run the website and, only if you accept them, optional analytics cookies to understand how visitors use the site. We do not currently use advertising or remarketing cookies, and we do not sell personal data.

3. Essential cookies and local storage

Essential technologies are needed to run the website, remember your cookie choice, support form submissions, and keep the site secure. For example, we save your cookie preference in your browser's localStorage so the cookie banner does not appear on every visit. These are always active because the website cannot function properly without them.

4. Analytics cookies

With your permission, we use Google Analytics 4 through Google Tag Manager to understand website visits, CTA clicks, and Website Health Snapshot request performance. This helps us improve the site. Analytics cookies are only used if you choose "Accept analytics" in the cookie banner.

5. Google Consent Mode v2

We use Google Consent Mode v2 to communicate your consent choice to Google tags. Consent defaults are set before Google Tag Manager loads. By default:

  • analytics_storage is denied
  • ad_storage is denied
  • ad_user_data is denied
  • ad_personalization is denied

If you accept analytics cookies, analytics_storage is updated to granted. Advertising consent types remain denied because we do not currently use advertising or remarketing.

Analytics cookies are optional. If you reject analytics cookies, Aicher will not use analytics cookies for your visit. Google tags may receive consent-state signals depending on the current Consent Mode configuration, but advertising storage and personalisation are denied by default.

6. How to change your cookie choice

You can change your choice at any time using the "Cookie settings" link in the footer of any page. This reopens the cookie banner so you can accept or reject analytics cookies again. Your updated choice is saved in localStorage.

7. Browser cookie controls

Most browsers let you view, block, or delete cookies through their settings. You can also clear your browser's localStorage, which will reset your Aicher cookie preference and cause the banner to appear again on your next visit. Blocking essential storage may affect how parts of the website work.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
